Moore in America – Atlanta Botanical Gardens 05/31/2009   1 comment

We finally had a lovely weekend after having rain the last 3 weekends.  I’m not complaining.  The rain is still sorely needed and everything is so beautiful and green this late spring.

We spent the afternoon at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.  The Monumental sculptures of Henry Moore are on exhibit there and they all looked absolutely lovely in the gardens.  We plan to retire on a Thursday evening because they will all be dramatically lit in the dark.

My favorite place is the Orchid Center.  I could spend hours just sitting and taking the beauty of these gorgeous flowers.

The garden also has endangered frogs, but so far, we haven’t had any luck in spotting one.  The frogs are located in the conservatory which has hundreds of tropical plants, frogs & birds.   We spotted some gorgeous little chicks, but alas, there was no one around to ask what they were and no signage anywhere.  I think they are from the Quail family.

I have included a pic of Goldie, our little rescued male cat.  He loves to sit on the desk next ot the computer.  That is where this pic was taken.  Enjoy!

  1. What a beautiful garen to host Henry Moore’s exhibit. It must have been extremely costly to bring that exhibit to Atlanta and it was well worth your visit.Sandra
