National Harbor – Washington, D.C. June 20, 2009   Leave a comment

June 20th was a busy day for me.  I had a morning meeting, then participated for a couple of hours at the National Day of Action for elephants in zoos at the National Zoo.  From there, I met my daughter at the new National Harbor on the Maryland side of the Potomac.  Most of the pics posted above were taken from a boat tour of the monuments.  The boat tours leave from Alexandria, across the river from the National Harbor.

We were treated to the site of the Osprey Nest.  There were no chicks, but it was still exciting to see it live and not on a webcam.

We had visited the Jones Point Lighthouse before, but it was fun to see it from the river.  It is one of the few remaining river lighthouses in Maryland.

After the boat tour, we took a river taxi over to the National Harbor and met friends for dinner at Rosa Mexicana.

The National Harbor is much like Atlantic Station here in Atlanta.  Condos, office space, shops and restaurants.  Lots of activity because of the river.

Very enjoyable.
