Hot Air Balloon Festival – Calloway Gardens Sept. 4, 2009   Leave a comment

For the first time in years we actually traveled out of town for Labor Day Weekend.  We drove down to Calloway Gardens.  It is about a 2 hour drive Southwest of Atlanta.  This was our first visit to Calloway, but not to the area.  We had visited FDR State Park and the Little White House a few years ago.

The attraction, of course, was the Hot Air Balloon Festival, but I was disappointed to see some of the same balloons we saw in Villa Rica a few weeks ago.  On this evening, they kicked off the festival with a Balloon Glow on the beach.  The beach is a sandy beach going all the way around a huge man-made lake.  Lots of people there.

We stayed at the Garden Resort Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning, returning home Sunday afternoon because I didn’t want to be on the road with everyone else driving back into the city on Monday.   More to follow …
